Being in front of the lens…

As a creative writing major, I really started my blog as a way to hone my writing skills. And to really figure out my writing voice. While, I am still working on this, at some point along the way I just fell in love with photography. I really feel like the two go hand in hand anyways. My digital photography professor at QU had us watch The Salt of the Earth. It’s about the photographer Sebastion Selgado. I have never really been a documentary person, but this movie was just incredible. It requires a lot of reading of subtitles but it was worth it. As a person, he just utterly…

    Wildflowers

In 2012, I took a CFA floral design course. At the time I was reading a lot of romance novels… Enough said right? Honestly, it was one of the best decisions I made. While I didn’t end up working in a flower shop it gave me a greater appreciation for flowers, as a living and breathing thing. And learning that flowers actually have a psychological effect on people, making them happier and healthier. I also met some really amazing people in the class, some of whom I still stay connected with to this day. So, sure I didn’t end up using it as a stepping stone towards a career. But,…

Recap of the Past Four Months

Guys I have been super M.I.A. lately. This semester has been a rough one, filled with many ups and downs. I managed to somehow (sort of) survive taking five classes, doing a semester-long internship, and work (about) every other weekend at my regular job. My internship with WNPR was amazing! Everyone I worked with was so nice, and I learned so much along the way about producing live radio. I actually (with the help of everyone there) was able to produce my own show by the end of the internship, check it out here! Well, I really wish it didn’t have to end, but as the saying goes… all good…

    Wandering Around Worcester

Max and I enjoyed our stay in Worcester. Honestly, most of our time was spent at the Expo and if we weren’t there we were in our room relaxing for the first time in so long. We spent a lot of time in bed watching TV in the peace and quiet. We brought a lot of snacks with us and even some Sunbutter sandwiches just in case. But, we were also able to take some cool pictures at the DCU Center and on the streets of Worcester. And there was some amazing street art we found along the way.   The street art behind me actually said, “I love you.…

    Gluten Free Allergen Friendly Expo

The Gluten Free Allergen Friendly Expo was a blast! Seeing as this was my first Expo I wasn’t really sure what to expect. But, from the second I walked into the door (early for once) I felt safety was the first priority. BFree a brand I had never tried before put out a wonderful breakfast. Equipped with everything bagels that are free of the top 8 allergens including sesame seeds! You have no idea how excited I was to be eating a bagel for the first time in a year! And let me tell you it was worth the carbs because it was delicious! Not only did they toast the bagel,…

Hiking Sleeping Giant with Food Allergies

I have been hiking maybe a few times in my life, even before the allergy diagnoses. I have never really enjoyed the woods, and I didn’t think I ever would. But, I must say Max and I had an amazing day hiking through Sleeping Giant in Hamden. For those of you from Connecticut, Sleeping Giant is iconic and I am sure everyone has been there at one point or another (maybe a field trip). Not to mention its across the street from Quinnipiac University the school I will be graduating from in three semesters. Go Bobcats! Anyways, when hiking with allergies you have to be sure to be prepared. Lucky for…

    The Product Break Down

Having multiple food allergies and sensitive skin can make finding products even more difficult for me. So, I have tried many products and just wanted to share some that didn’t work for me. I share a lot about the products I do like and wanted to be sure to mention I have tried a lot of products that didn’t work for me. All the products are listed with a little pros and cons section attached. All of the products here I have purchased myself, so I hope this helps you find a product that will work for your skin! I am a true believer that just because you have sensitive…

Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo

I am so excited to be going to the Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo this year on July 22nd and 23rd in Worcester, MA. This will be my first time attending this Expo or any gluten/allergy expo. I can’t wait to meet the amazing people representing the brands and products that have helped me in my allergy free journey. Plus find some new products and brands to try. They are going to have over a hundred vendors, seven different classes over the two days, and free food samples! Woot woot! I mean now that I can’t wander around Costco for food samples, this will be my chance! It will also…

Trying to Eliminate the Cross Contamination in my Life

Having allergies can be difficult and a lot of work. Especially when your going out, attending a party, or just working for the day. So here are some things that I do to try and make it a little easier on myself. First, I really try to make sure where ever I am going, can accommodate me. My family, Max’s family, and my friends have all been very understanding about my allergies. And usually let me pick a restaurant that is allergy safe. I saw a really funny meme recently on the Instagram page Nonuts4me and it said “When you go out to eat with your friends and all you…

    Loma Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Right now Loma is one of the only product brands I am using in my hair. Of course I must say I would have never heard about their amazing products if it was not for Kim, my hairdresser from Bella Capelli in Old Saybrook, CT. Thankfully, Kim sells the products in her salon, and she keeps doing my hair even though I am constantly changing it back and forth from light to dark (and I’m back to light again). Some Loma products do contain Coconut derived ingredients.  But, thankfully this is one thing I am not allergic to. Since I just switched my dark locks back to blonde I am…
