Wildflowers

In 2012, I took a CFA floral design course. At the time I was reading a lot of romance novels… Enough said right?

Honestly, it was one of the best decisions I made. While I didn’t end up working in a flower shop it gave me a greater appreciation for flowers, as a living and breathing thing. And learning that flowers actually have a psychological effect on people, making them happier and healthier. I also met some really amazing people in the class, some of whom I still stay connected with to this day.

So, sure I didn’t end up using it as a stepping stone towards a career. But, now I can put together a beautiful (yet still amateur) arrangement for holidays like Mother’s day. Or, for my cousin’s bridal shower, I was able to help put together the teapot arrangements for the tables. On top of all that it’s a fun conversational topic.

The class consisted of everything from corsages to funeral arrangements. I learned that for funerals and times of mourning the arrangement should be more vertical, rather than horizontal. And, that the greenery really makes all the difference.

Lately, I have been gravitating towards wildflowers. While I usually have to get them from a store they still have that beautiful earthy feel. I am absolutely in love with chamomile right now.

This adorable straw bag is from Gap.com and comes in a few different colors. They also have a similar bag with sequins for those of you who are feeling adventurous, but I went with the natural one.

The sweatshirt that I have been living in is the Aerie Vintage Beach Fleece in “Faded Raisin,” but they have a ton of other colors. Its super soft and so cozy for chilly summer nights. Plus it’s on sale right now for $15! I’m wearing a size small, but if you have any questions about fit, be sure to reach out to me.
