Hiking Sleeping Giant with Food Allergies

I have been hiking maybe a few times in my life, even before the allergy diagnoses. I have never really enjoyed the woods, and I didn’t think I ever would. But, I must say Max and I had an amazing day hiking through Sleeping Giant in Hamden. For those of you from Connecticut, Sleeping Giant is iconic and I am sure everyone has been there at one point or another (maybe a field trip). Not to mention its across the street from Quinnipiac University the school I will be graduating from in three semesters. Go Bobcats! Anyways, when hiking with allergies you have to be sure to be prepared. Lucky for…

    The Product Break Down

Having multiple food allergies and sensitive skin can make finding products even more difficult for me. So, I have tried many products and just wanted to share some that didn’t work for me. I share a lot about the products I do like and wanted to be sure to mention I have tried a lot of products that didn’t work for me. All the products are listed with a little pros and cons section attached. All of the products here I have purchased myself, so I hope this helps you find a product that will work for your skin! I am a true believer that just because you have sensitive…

Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo

I am so excited to be going to the Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo this year on July 22nd and 23rd in Worcester, MA. This will be my first time attending this Expo or any gluten/allergy expo. I can’t wait to meet the amazing people representing the brands and products that have helped me in my allergy free journey. Plus find some new products and brands to try. They are going to have over a hundred vendors, seven different classes over the two days, and free food samples! Woot woot! I mean now that I can’t wander around Costco for food samples, this will be my chance! It will also…

Trying to Eliminate the Cross Contamination in my Life

Having allergies can be difficult and a lot of work. Especially when your going out, attending a party, or just working for the day. So here are some things that I do to try and make it a little easier on myself. First, I really try to make sure where ever I am going, can accommodate me. My family, Max’s family, and my friends have all been very understanding about my allergies. And usually let me pick a restaurant that is allergy safe. I saw a really funny meme recently on the Instagram page Nonuts4me and it said “When you go out to eat with your friends and all you…

    Loma Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Right now Loma is one of the only product brands I am using in my hair. Of course I must say I would have never heard about their amazing products if it was not for Kim, my hairdresser from Bella Capelli in Old Saybrook, CT. Thankfully, Kim sells the products in her salon, and she keeps doing my hair even though I am constantly changing it back and forth from light to dark (and I’m back to light again). Some Loma products do contain Coconut derived ingredients.  But, thankfully this is one thing I am not allergic to. Since I just switched my dark locks back to blonde I am…

    The After Work Burger

Ingredients: -Pound of ground meat -Fist full of chopped chives -Salt & Pepper -Crushed red pepper -Olive oil -Garlic   Combine in bowl and mix by hand until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Shape into quarter pound balls and flatten into patties between two pieces of saran wrap. Cook over medium heat, two minutes a side for medium rare (longer if you like it well – like me). Then I personally use Schär Gluten Free Artisan Bread (but this is not soy free!), which is toasted to a crunchy perfection. But, any bread of your choice will do. Top the burger with lettuce and onion. Really you can top it…

    My Allergy Story

My food allergies came on very fast. One day I was fine and then I wasn’t. At first it was just some small hives on my neck, so I put some hydrocortisone cream on it and didn’t really think much of it. Trust me I am not unfamiliar with having hives or eczema and have literally carried hydrocortisone cream around in my purse since high school. Well then the rash spread into full blown hives all over my body. So of course I go to the doctors office and he suggests we do a basic food allergy test. Meanwhile, he prescribes steroids to knock out whatever was going on. After taking…
